Header: Group Activity
The Captain wants to fly a plane from New York City to San Francisco. As a special favor, she's agreed that one of your stopovers can be in your home town. However, your group needs to plan your flight so that you're not flying more than 1,000 miles before you stop to refuel.
1) Get a map of the United States. Using the map scale (which tells you how many miles equal an inch on the map) and a ruler, figure out how far New York City is from your hometown. If it is more than 1,000 miles choose a city less than 1,000 miles from New York City for your first stopover.
2) Keep choosing cities that are less than 1,000 miles apart until you reach your hometown.
